Aspire Lactation is run by Naomi Drew, a qualified, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a registered nurse with post-graduate certification in neonatal care. I have been a registered nurse since 2003, working with infants and their families for most of my career. I have three school-aged children – who have each taught me so much about breastfeeding too! My husband is a critical care paramedic and will often send me interesting snippets about breastfeeding in the news
I have a special interest in mothers with low milk supply, mothers with a history of prior breast surgery, babies with suspected tongue ties and families of premature infants. I am also interested in working with babies with food allergies and intolerance, as I also work part time as a nurse in an allergy clinic.
I have current certification with the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners. As an IBCLC and nurse, I am required to maintain my skills by keeping up to date with current literature and attend education opportunities regularly.
For you and your baby’s safety, I am up to date with my vaccinations, in particular, pertussis (whooping cough) and the COVID-19 vaccination. Pertussis can be fatal in babies too young to be vaccinated and is a serious, preventable disease. For more information on vaccine schedules, visit Queensland Health and talk to your General Practitioner/Paediatrician.
